Where do I even begin. I started renting in September of 2022. By February of 2023 this issues began with my kitchen ceiling falling on me because the owners of the unit I am I was renting improperly installed a drop ceiling in so many ways. Sarasota management was quick to respond and get people out there to fix it which was fantastic, but without my permission the repair crew unplugged my fridge all day without my knowledge, shut off my water and blocked the way to turn the water back on with drywall and tools. This whole thing took a decent amount of time to finish but it was much better when it was fixed. Then later down the line my AC broke and it was an absolute cluster to get that fixed. For a while absolutely no one offered to bring by a mobile ac unit while we were soon getting into the peak of summer. While that was going on I noticed sparks coming off of my hot water tank which turns out was also improperly installed. The cherry on top of it all was losing power after hurricane Helene. We cannot control the weather and the destruction it causes, but I was left without power for an entire month. I was originally told I would have to pay for a repair man by their automated system. For a few days I heard nothing from the management on anything. Hurricane Milton hit and caused a lot of damage to the building and yet again I heard absolutely nothing about repairs. I paid an entire months rent for an apartment I could not live in because I was left without power. I was barely talked to my by Sarasota management. They made 0 offers to help with putting me in an alternate housing, not pay that months rent, nothing. After finally getting power back I was still barely communicated with about repairs to screens, balcony doors ect. After many months the sliding doors were finally fixed. There are still so many repairs being done on the buildings yet no rent reduction for the multitude of amenities that are still unusable yet I’m still paying for all of it in my rent. Biggest takeaway with Sarasota management is that they are awful at communicating. On top of that they did not do a thorough inspection of the apartment before putting it on the market. They have been great in other aspects but the huge issues I’ve had completely out way those few positive interactions. If you are looking at renting from them, bring in your own inspectors and check everything.
